WHEN WAS LEADERSHIP CITRUS STARTED?
Founded in
1991, Leadership Citrus is one of more than 150 leadership development programs through the United States.
WHO PARTICIPATES?
Each
year, 14 or 15 Citrus County residents will be selected to participate. Emphasis is placed on selecting members from a cross-section
of the county both geographically and diversity of background. They all have one thing in common: a demonstrated talent and
commitment for community leadership.
WHEN DOES IT MEET?
Leadership Citrus begins with an opening session
in January. Day-long sessions are held twice a month from January to June, ending with an event for graduates. Participants
must make a commitment to attend all sessions.
WHAT GOES ON IN THE SESSIONS?
Through an intense program
of lectures, structured activities and "hands on" involvement, each session features a different topic with an underlying
theme of anything that is of concern to the future of Citrus County. Held in locations throughout the county, the sessions
include prominent speakers and dialogue. Some of the topics have included: Human Needs and Services, Historical, Natural Resources,
Criminal Justice, Growth Management and Transportation, Education, Local and State Government and the Economics of the County.
WHAT
IS THE PURPOSE?

Citrus County, so that they can act more effectively. The program holds unlimited potential for enhancing the community by
preparing and motivating the participants.
